Scorpion hex head self-drilling screws comply with ASTM C1513 for cold-formed steel framing connections. Salt spray tested according to ASTM B117 for 1000 hours; 15 cycles Kesternich per DIN 50018; no red rust. Approved for use in non-coastal areas with all pressure treated lumbers including ACQ.

Recommended Application

For heavy gauge steel-to-steel attachment 43 mil (18ga) or thicker.

Installation Guidelines

Use a standard screw gun with a depth-sensitive nose piece and use extra caution when installing with impact drivers. Suggested screw gun specification for optimal performance - Size #10 up to 2,500 RPM, Size #12 up to 1,800 RPM; however, 2,500 RPM may be used provided care is exercised to minimize influence of high heat buildup due to surface speed (see ASTM C1513, Table 5, note C).
The hex head is fully seated when the bearing surface of the head is flush with the work surface.
The fastener must penetrate beyond the metal a minimum of three full threads.
Overdriving my result in fastener failure or strip out of the work surface.
