Scorpion Type D/P drill point screws are designed for heavy gauge metal to metal framing and lathing to metal framing applications.

Specifications

The Phillips recess is a precision recess designed for better bit engagement resulting in less wobble or strip-out.
The modified truss head design provides a larger load bearing surface for better holding power.
The drill point modified truss head screws begin with the best available materials and conform to strict manufacturing requirements in thread forming. Extra sharp threads mean screws will drive faster and will hold better.
Self-tapping drill point is designed for quick penetration into heavy-gauge metal.

For heavy gauge steel-to-steel attachment 43 mil (18ga) or thicker.

Use a standard screw gun with a depth-sensitive nose piece and use caution when installing with an impact driver. Suggested screw gun specification for optimal performance - Size #8 - #10 up to 2,500 RPM, Size #12 up to 1,800 RPM; however, 2,500 RPM may be used provided care is exercised to minimize influence of high heat buildup due to surface speed (see ASTM C1513, Table 5, note C).
The Modified Truss head is fully seated when the bearing surface of the head is flush with the work surface.
The fastener must penetrate beyond the metal a minimum of three full threads.
